So, sarah palin. I donapos;t know why i didnapos;t see this one coming. It did not even cross my mind that mccain would pick a woman, but it makes perfect sense. A) sheapos;s a woman and B) sheapos;s a washington outsider.

i just hope that women are not tricked into voting for her simply because she is a woman. Letapos;s look at what isnapos;t so woman-friendly about her. 1) sheapos;s rabidly anti-choice. 2) she believes that creationism should be taught in schools. Hey lady-we have a little something in this country called the separation of church and state--check it out.

i will admit--i voted for hillary in the primaries. And part of that thrill was being able to vote for a woman for president. I am a complete obama convert (witness my brave bumper sticker in eastern tennessee) and actually think that he could be better for the country in many ways than HRC. But the reason i point this out is because i hope that women donapos;t fall into the same trap that i did-- of course, thereapos;s no way that i would ever vote for a republican just because she was a woman. Itapos;s nice to know that i have some standards.

speaking of obama, i was so inspired by his speech on thursday. Watching him, i just kept thinking, "who wouldnapos;t believe in what he is saying"? affordable universal health care, cutting down dependence on fossil fuels and investing in alternate energy, womenapos;s equality, LGBT rights, etc. But clearly, there are many who donapos;t agree with him-- as the fools who are meeting in the twin cities this week will make clear.
